Just for New Entrepreneurs
Before you commit to working with a designer, developer, printer, or other professional, you want to know what to expect. We strongly encourage you to contact more than one vendor so you can compare your options and find the solution that's right for you. We're well aware that our expertise is not suited to every project, and we'll help you in whatever way we can to find the perfect provider.

Your unique perspective on your business and your industry will help us define, design, and deliver a powerful and effective end product, and is therefore critical to our success and yours. Your level of involvement however, is up to you. Some clients choose to hand us the ball and say, "Run with it!" Others prefer to be kept up-to-date on a regular basis throughout the life of the project. You're welcome to participate as much or as little as you would like.

The following general process applies to all of our clients and projects, although the details of each step may vary according to the nature of the endeavor.

Initial Free Consultation
Who, What, Why, When, Where, and How? We know those words well. And we use them to help us get to know you, your business, your needs, and your goals. Your initial consultation is typically (but not necessarily) a face-to-face meeting with us that lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on the number and complexity of your projects. This is where we establish the groundwork for our ongoing relationship, and determine exactly what our responsibilities, and yours, will be.

Proposal and Estimate
Within a matter of days of our first meeting, you will receive, by email, a clear, detailed proposal outlining our recommended solutions and strategies for your projects. We'll give you an item-by-item plan to design, develop, and deliver your materials, with accurate estimates of the time and expenses involved in the project. We have perfected the art of estimating so completely that we have only exceeded our original estimates twice in 2 years. It is not unusual, however, for a client to expand or extend our relationship once they have experienced the quality and service of Holmquist Design.

Acceptance
One point is critical to your understanding of the way we work: You are never under any obligation to complete any project which we have proposed. In your proposal, we typically give you numbers for everything we've discussed - even if some projects are "hopes and dreams" or future endeavors. We do this to help you plan for what comes next. When you sign our Indication of Intent, you are simply letting us know that you're ready to work with Holmquist Design in some capacity. If at any point for any reason you decide to have us stop work on your projects, just say the word. We will bill you only for the actual time and expenses that have already been invested, nothing more. In addition, we never require a deposit to begin work for you.

Production
As soon as we receive your signed Indication of Intent, we will contact you again to establish our first few timeframes and get the ball rolling. And off we go. We will stay in contact with you, mostly by email and phone, throughout the process. Often, we'll send you several options for a particular project to get your feedback and hone in on your needs and desires. We'll show you options for papers and ink colors for your printed projects, and help you choose the ones that are right for you. We'll send you drafts and proofs for you to review, and we'll get your final approval before any item is produced or printed. On website projects, we'll also test any and all interactive pieces to ensure flawless operation and integration.

Billing
Holmquist Design bills once a month, every month, for all work that has been completed in that month. If any work has been done for you in a particular calendar month, even if our first day of work is on the last day of the month, you can expect to receive an invoice from us on or around the first. The only exception to this process will be your final bill. Upon completion of ALL of your projects, we will invoice you immediately for any unbilled work and expenses. (Many clients never get to this point since they keep finding new ways we can help them promote their business.) Our terms are Net 15.

Feedback and Review
Your satisfaction is our success. We invite and encourage you to tell us how we did on your projects, and what we could do better next time. We are continually reviewing our processes and policies, and we welcome your constructive input to help us improve.

We see our role as not only a provider but also an assistant, an educator, and a connector. Our experiences have introduced us to new ways of doing things, businesses and organizations in a huge range of functions, and people who know how to get things done. We look forward to sharing those experiences with you as you to strive to achieve your goals.
